CREATE A QUOTE TEAPOT!!!

                                            CREATE A QUOTE TEAPOT!!!

Method 1 of 3: Selecting a suitable teapot and quotes

  1. Create a Quote Teapot Step 1.jpg
    1
Choose a white, ceramic teapot. The teapot needs to be large enough to hold all your quotes. Depending on how large you write and the number of quotes you’ve gathered, base the teapot's size on the amount of writing that will be transferred to the teapot.
    • The quotes will be written using permanent marker, so check that the teapot material will hold the ink and allow for quick drying.
    • For a standout look, go for white. Otherwise, if you find a dark colored teapot, use reverse (white, metallic or light colored) markers.
  2. Create a Quote Teapot Step 4.jpg
    2
Wash and dry the ceramic teapot. Remove any dust or debris before writing on the teapot. Simply wipe clean with warm, soapy water, rinse with clean water and then dry with a soft cloth.
  3. Create a Quote Teapot Step 2.jpg
    3
Gather your quotes. If you're creating this for another person, find a book penned by his or her favorite author and dig up as many quotes as possible. Or, use online quote websites for fasting sorting.
    • You might even like to ask directly for quotes that your recipient holds dear, in order to make the teapot extra special.
    • It's a good idea to write out or type up the quotes to keep on hand as you create the teapot. You can reference your sheet as you write, making it easier.

Method 2 of 3: Test driving the markers

  1. Create a Quote Teapot Step 3.jpg
    1
Use Sharpies (permanent marker pens) or paint pens for writing the quotes. It's up to you whether you want a single color, or a variety of colors. Just be aware that while using more than one color can produce a “designed” effect, too many colors may disrupt the flow of the quotes.
    • Choose markers that have a strong, pointed felt tip. If you can’t find a Sharpie pen, look for a permanent paint pen that gives you the same command as a ballpoint pen.
Create a Quote Teapot Step 3Bullet1.jpg
  2. Create a Quote Teapot Step 3Bullet2.jpg
    2
Test drive the pen before applying it to the teapot. You don’t want the first mark to be on the teapot, as your pen may not be fully inked. Write a few words on a separate sheet of paper first and get a feel for how the pen writes first. Once you're happy that it's flowing properly and that you can write with it comfortably, then apply it to the teapot.
    • Try an inconspicuous part of the teapot first, to see how it looks and to test how it sets.

Method 3 of 3: Creating the Quote Teapot

  1. Create a Quote Teapot Step 5.jpg
    1
Begin writing at the top of the teapot. Begin with the lid and work your way down and around the teapot in a swirling, descending motion.
    • Add a symbol or mark to denote a break in between quotes. A simple dot (.), asterisk (*), tilde or hyphen (~ or -) in between the quotes will suffice.
Create a Quote Teapot Step 5Bullet1.jpg
    • Change pen colors in between quotes (if using different colors). For example, write one quote in blue and the next quote in black.
Create a Quote Teapot Step 5Bullet2.jpg
  2. Create a Quote Teapot Step 5Bullet3.jpg
    2
Use your shortest quote or most meaningful word to top the teapot. You may want to write the first word in a different script so it stands out.
  3. 3
Identify the shortest quotes to line the teapot lid. Make sure the entire quote fits on the lid.
  4. 4
Write the next set of quotes at the top of the teapot rim and begin working your way down and around the teapot.
    • Take breaks in between quotes so your hand does not get tired––you risk leaning into the ink and smudging it.
Create a Quote Teapot Step 6Bullet1.jpg
    • Aim to maintain a consistent word shape and design. Write words close together in order to fit all your quotes on the teapot.
Create a Quote Teapot Step 6Bullet2.jpg
  5. 2470774 Intro.JPG
    5
Finished. Heat the teapot in the oven at 150 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes to make it permanent. Ensure that the quote teapot has cooled properly before packaging as a gift or using.
    • If giving as a gift, consider accompanying it with a book of the author whose quotes you've used and a package of fresh tea.

HOW TO CRY ON THE SPOT

HOW TO CRY ON THE SPOT

Steps

  1. Cry On the Spot Step 1.jpg
    1
Put yourself into a more emotional state of mind. What we think makes us is something we're often told; in the case of getting emotional, this is definitely valid. Try to think of something that makes you really sad. For example, think back to the loss of a beloved family member, friend or a pet, breakup with girl/boyfriend, attending a funeral, losing something you treasured or how it felt when you missed out on something you'd worked really hard to achieve. This will begin to put you in the right frame of mind for tears.
    • If you can't think of anything, think of someone you care about getting hurt. Never look back on a sad occasion that happened in your life. This could emotionally break you and you'd become a mess. Instead, think of something that could happen in the future, pretend one of your family members died or was injured, or remember a sad scene from a movie.
  2. Cry On the Spot Step 2.jpg
    2
Irritate your eyes. A common method for starting tears is to cause your eyes discomfort. Of course, be careful as to how you go about doing this, and be aware that some of these methods can hurt a little (which will probably really make you cry):
    • Hold your eyelids open with your fingers, stay like this for 2 minutes.
    • Try to expose your eyes to the air as much as possible. Keep your eyes open as long as you can. Don't close them until tears form under your eyes. Keeping your eyes open will dry them out, making them sting. Don't close your eyes when they start to hurt or no tears will form.
    • Cutting an unwashed onion is very effective in provoking tears. This method is probably best for plays though––it's a little difficult to bluff crying around someone you want to convince you're crying when you produce an onion and both of you start getting all teary!
    • Place your eyes next to a fan - looking into the airflow can make you cry.
    • Let your eyes relax. Then close your eyes and rub your eyelids for about 25 seconds. Open them and stare at something until the tears start rolling. You might not get it the first time but it works. Rubbing can leave your eyes sore but if done gently, it can help redden the complexion around your eye area.
    • Lightly place your pointed finger up to your one of your pupils. This will cause that eye to become irritated, and it may lead to tears. Be careful not to poke your eye out.
    • Gently rub just a tiny spot of Tiger Balm, mentholated petroleum jelly, or hand sanitizer under your eyes. It may sting, but it's going to be very realistic. Do not overdo this one and DO NOT get any IN your eyes.
    • Never rub your eyes with something hot like chili, hot pepper powders, curry powder, etc. or you will do more than cry for real; this can not only hurt intensely but may also cause injury to your eye.
  3. Cry On the Spot Step 3.jpg
    3
Bring other parts of your body into action. Doing things with other parts of your body can help to bring on tears. Some examples include:
    • Try yawning repeatedly. This may help to make your eyes water (especially if you're feeling a little tired).
    • Sometimes you can cry by breathing into the back of your throat rather than down your windpipe, this is how yawning can make you cry as well. Or it might just make you yawn!
    • Try pinching yourself hard in some sensitive parts of your body like the space between your thumb and pointer finger or under your eye and tears will automatically begin to flow down.
    • Bite the inside of your lip. Think about something that really upsets you, and stare.
    • Try holding your nose very tightly so you can't breathe through it. Then try to breathe through your nose. Tears might come.
  4. Cry On the Spot Step 4.jpg
    4
Make a crying face. This usually involves closing your eyes and scrunching your face up a little––simply imagine yourself through the motions through remembering what your face feels like when you do actually cry.
    • Turn the corners of your lips down a little.
    • Try to force the inner corners of your eyebrows upwards.
    • Wrinkle up your chin like people do right before they start bawling. This may look fake, so be careful.
  5. Cry On the Spot Step 5.jpg
    5
Focus on your breathing. The breathing is part of what convinces people that you're upset. Start sobbing by making crying noises and take deep breaths as your do so. Breathe in constantly as if you are hyperventilating; you can add little hiccuping noises too.
    • If nobody can see you, run on the spot for several minutes to cause yourself to be out of breath. If you can do this, it'll help to create the blotchy complexion often associated with crying.
  6. Cry On the Spot Step 6.jpg
    6
Use typical body movements associated with crying. Once you have the eyes tearing, the crying face and the hyper breathing going, add in a typical crying body stance. Some suggestions include:
    • Cover your face with your hands and lower your head.
    • Look away, trying to pretend you're not crying––the double bluff!
    • Bite your lip, as if you're trying hard to stop the tears. Wobbling your bottom lip really adds to the effect. Just make sure you don't look like you're faking it.
    • Rest your head on a table or other item in front of you in a gesture of hopelessness or attempt to self-compose.
  7. Cry On the Spot Step 7.jpg
    7
Be convincing. Think very hard about being sad. Make bubbling noises, and ramble on about the thing that has supposedly caused you to feel upset. In general, get emotionally carried away. The trick is to convince yourself that you're actually crying, as well as everyone else. This is basically "mind over matter" and the more you act it out, the more your body will acquiesce to produce the effect you're after.
    • When speaking, constrict your vocal cords. Aim to stutter your words and add in long intakes of breath to add to the effect.
  8. 8
Laugh! Just burying your face in your hands and laughing can work. It can sometimes be hard to tell if someone is laughing or crying if they do it correctly. While your face is in your hands, try to make your eyes a little red by rubbing them hard with your hands in a fist form, otherwise it'll be too obvious. And don't smile when you take your hands away! This works best on a stage, when people are not close enough to see tears or your face in close detail.
    • Sometimes you can tear up from laughing, so perhaps try thinking of something funny or get a fellow funny actor to crack jokes around you just prior to filming or acting that scene. Make sure you look sad when the tears start flowing, though!
    • Some people laugh as a nervous or upset response. You may have noticed this in other people. You can mimic this display of emotion if faking crying is very difficult for you.
  9. 9
Fight the tears instead. If you're having trouble getting yourself to cry, sometimes it's better to not cry, but to act like you're fighting back the tears––sometimes people are touched more by this, especially if you're usually a "tougher" soul. This can also be more believable, because it comes across as being more vulnerable.
  10. 10
Don't sweat the stage. If you're going to be in a serious production, don't worry about having to produce your own tears. TV and film actors have the benefit of working with an entire crew of technicians and artists. Although some movie stars utilize some of the professional techniques many actors options for an easier solution. A menthol tear stick and menthol tear producers are the tool of the tv drama, film, theater trade etc. The stick version requires a sparse application under the eyes. The "tear producer" works as a spray. Both produce immediate results.
  11. Cry On the Spot Step 8.jpg
    11
Don't prolong the crying session. Since you're faking this, it won't have authentic emotions to keep fueling your crying. If you do end up making real tears, don't expect to keep making even more tears because your eyes will get tired after a while and won't be able to produce as many tears, especially lacking the emotion that can cause us to cry for a long time when something truly upsetting does happen. Wind it up quickly to give your eyes a break.

3 WAYS TO BEDAZZLE YOUR SNEAKERS WITH GLITTER

3 WAYS TO BEDAZZLE YOUR SNEAKERS WITH GLITTER

Method 1 of 3: Bedazzling with Glitter

  1. Bedazzle Your Sneakers Step 2.jpg
    1
Gather your supplies. To make these glitter sneakers, you will need a pair of sneakers, some fine glitter (in the color or colors of your choice), a pot of glitter paint, a paintbrush, a roll of painters tape and a pot of Modge Podge.
  2. Bedazzle Your Sneakers Step 1Bullet1.jpg
    2
Prepare your sneakers. Make sure your sneakers are completely clean, or else use a brand new pair of sneakers for this project.
    • If you're using an old pair of fabric or canvas, consider putting them in the washing machine. If they are not machine washable, use a damp cloth to remove as much dirt as possible.
    • Remove the laces from the sneakers, then take the painters tape and use to it to cover up any areas of the shoe you don't want to bedazzle -- such as the rubber sole and the tongue.
  3. Bedazzle Your Sneakers Step 4.jpg
    3
Mix the glitter paint and loose glitter. Pour a large drop of glitter paint onto a paper plate, then sprinkle the loose glitter on top.
    • Mix with a paintbrush or lollipop stick until you achieve a slightly grainy consistency -- but don't allow the paint to become too chunky or dry.
    • If necessary, add more of the glitter or paint until you achieve the right consistency.
  4. Bedazzle Your Sneakers Step 8.jpg
    4
Begin painting the shoes. Take a paintbrush and dip it in the glittery paint. Place your free hand inside the shoe to hold it up, then start painting!
    • Try to apply a thin, even layer of the paint over the entire shoe. If you pile it on too thickly, the paint may take a very long time to dry. Once you have finished painting the first shoe, do the same with the second.
    • Remember that you can always paint an extra layer of glitter paint once the original layer has dried. It's better to apply several thin layers than a single thick coat.
  5. Bedazzle Your Sneakers Step 7.jpg
    5
Apply a layer of Modge Podge. Once the layer or layers of glitter paint have dried completely, take the bottle of Modge Podge and pour a large drop onto a paper plate. Take a clean paintbrush and start applying it to the sneakers.
    • The Modge Modge will seal the glitter (making sure it doesn't fall off) and add shine to the sneakers. Don't worry if it looks white at first, it will turn clear once it dries.
    • Leave the shoes to dry overnight, then reinsert the laces and enjoy your new glitter shoes!
  6. Bedazzle Your Sneakers Step 9.jpg
    6
Try some variations. Once you have the basic method down, you can experiment with a few different variations of this glitter technique.
    • Use different color glitters: Instead of just using a single color glitter on your sneakers, you could experiment with mixing glitters and paints to create a cool, multi-toned sparkle. Think about mixing pink and purple glitters with silver paint, or red and orange glitter with gold paint. You could even mix all seven colors of the rainbow!
    • Create an ombre effect: Another good idea is to create an ombre effect by using three complimentary colors of glitter and fading them into each other. Mix each color glitter with paint on a separate plate, then use the first color glitter to paint 1/3 of the shoe, from the heel forwards. Once that layer is dry, use a clean paintbrush to paint the second color glitter on the next 1/3 of the shoe, starting about 1/2 an inch behind where the first color ended. Do the same with the third color, painting all the way to the toe. [1]
    • Use stencils: Instead of painting the entire shoe with glitter, you could use stencils to create glittery designs and patterns on your sneakers. Press plastic or fabric stencils onto the shoe, or create your own using painters tape. With this technique, you can create pretty shimmering butterflies, stars, hearts, flowers, skulls -- anything you like!
  7. Bedazzle Your Sneakers Step 6.jpg
    7
Experiment with an alternative technique. Instead of painting the glittery glue onto the shoes, you could try sprinkling it instead!
    • All you need are a pair of canvas sneakers, a bottle of fabric glue, some fine, loose glitter, a pot of Modge Podge and a paintbrush.
    • Paint a layer of fabric glue onto the canvas parts of a clean pair of sneakers (with the laces removed). Hold the sneakers over a sheet of newspaper and start sprinkling the loose glitter directly onto the glue.
    • You'll need to work quickly, to ensure that the glue doesn't dry. Once you have cover the sneakers in a layer of glitter, give them a gentle shake to remove any excess.
    • Paint a layer of Modge Podge over the sneakers to seal the glitter and add shoes. Leave the shoes to dry overnight before reinserting the laces and wearing.[2]

HOW TO MAKE A PENCIL HOLDER

HOW TO MAKE A PENCIL HOLDER

Part 1 of 5: Preparing the template

  1. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 1.jpg
    1
Place one of the popsicle sticks on a sheet of paper. Measure its length. In this case, the stick measured 11cm/4.3".
  2. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 2.jpg
    2
Construct an equilateral triangle based on the length of the popsicle stick.

Part 2 of 5: Building the first triangle

  1. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 3.jpg
    1
Place one of the popsicle sticks over any one side of the constructed triangle.
  2. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 4.jpg
    2
Squirt a bit of glue on one end of the popsicle stick.
  3. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 5.jpg
    3
Place another popsicle stick over another side of the constructed triangle. Stick the two popsicle sticks together.
  4. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 6.jpg
    4
Squirt some glue over the other two ends of the popsicle sticks.
  5. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 7.jpg
    5
Take another popsicle stick and place it over the last/third side of the constructed triangle. Stick the popsicle sticks together.
  6. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 8.jpg
    6
Remove the sheet of paper. At this stage, you will have formed a popsicle triangle. From this sample, you will now build up the pencil holder.

Part 3 of 5: Constructing the rest of the pencil holder

  1. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 9.jpg
    1
Repeat the above steps to add a second layer of popsicle sticks to the structure.
  2. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 10.jpg
    2
Continue the building process. Add more popsicle sticks until the tower has attained the average height of a pencil holder (you can decide how high to make it).
  3. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 11.jpg
    3
    Allow the structure to dry.

Part 4 of 5: Adding a base

  1. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 12.jpg
    1
Create a base for the pencil holder, to keep the pencils in place. Squirt some glue on any two sides of the constructed pencil holder. Glue popsicle sticks across one end, so as to make a base for the pencil holder.
  2. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 13.jpg
    2
Let the base dry. Once it dries, cut-off any excess. As shown in the image, this can be made easier by ruling a line first, and following that when cutting.
  3. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 14.jpg
    3
Once it is cut, the base should look somewhat as shown in this image.

Part 5 of 5: Finishing the holder

  1. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 15.jpg
    1
Decorate the pencil holder as desired. Throw on a bit of paint and be creative! Paint an interesting pattern, a favorite animal or your name, for example. You could also add decorative elements such as costume gems, plastic toys, buttons, etc.
  2. Make a Pencil Holder with Popsicle Sticks Step 16.jpg
    2
Finished! Now you have a pencil holder made up of popsicle sticks.
